As you might know, Vegetable criticism is becoming a big social problem on earth, so scientists found a way to make vegetables talk. Now we can interview some veggies!
Mr. Turnip
Abigail (A): So Mr. Turnip. Why do you think you are the most hated vegetable?
Mr. Turnip (T): Well, I’m not the type of veggie that people would just take a bite out of, and I hardly ever taste good in a meal.
A: Do you think you should be a more liked vegetable?
T: Well, I don’t think I should be anyone’s favorite vegetable, but I would think I’m not the most hated vegetable
A: In the US you have 27 percent “Yuck Rating”
T: BUT
A: But what?
T: BUT I know the BEST turnip recipe ever!
A: Lets hear it!
T: Try to find small, white Asian turnips.
A: Keep going.
T: Cut each turnip into three to four slices, depending on its size.
Heat two tablespoons butter or olive oil in a medium sized skillet until it begins to sizzle.
Add the turnip slices and lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Let them cook a bit on each side until just starting to brown. Add one-half cup of water or vegetable stock or more depending on how many turnips you are using. Bring to a simmer and let it cook until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. Make sure to watch it so the turnips don’t burn.
Remove from heat and add lemon juice if desired. The sauté and the braising create a delicious broth. You could also add soy sauce or a little honey with the liquid at the beginning for a more distinct flavor.
A: It seems like you have memorized that.
T: I have!
A: That recipe actually sound pretty good.
T: and you doubted me?
A: *Chuckles* A little.
A: Did you know radishes have their own video game?
T: WHAT?!?! BUT PEOPLE DON’T LIKE RADISHES EITHER
A: Yup! It’s called Dadish “He’s a dad and a radish!” I personally LOVE this game.
T: HOW DARE YOU
A: And I thought turnips were the calm ones!
*and that concludes this interview*
