Around March 3rd, 2023, a piece of ‘art’ with a motor in it was left to dry in the design tech workshop of BHMS. At that time, the tests hadn’t been conducted on the piece yet, so it was unknown how it would look with a moving beak and dry paint when everyone returned to school on Monday. “It was…. the bird… The…. bir…..d..,” says one of our soon-to-be-dead interviewees in a hospital on Mars. Let’s go back in time: it was Monday and second period had just started for kids at BHMS. In the design tech room, there were about 15 – 20 kids, says Jackery James, the design tech teacher suffering from light amnesia. “According to my attendance sheets in 3rd period, only 2 of my 3rd-period students, who were on the other side of the school when the explosion happened, survived. I just hate to think of what happened to the others.” Now we interview the administrators of the two new school districts on Mars. “It is just outright sad. The amount of kids around the world that survived the incident in Broomfield, Colorado, only totals about 15,000 kids. This is just horrible,” says the head administrator of the main district.
We now interview the creator of this awful accident, an 8th grader who barely survived with many major burns and a mild concussion. “It was meant to be a bird. An innocent, cute bird. I couldn’t have predicted the utterly horrible consequences that ended up happening because of it,” says Tobarny Oackey. “I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.” After that interview, The Banter News team went on NASA’s website and found detailed explanations of the event and plans for the grim future. One of their articles says that when someone who was in school early saw the ‘bird’, they raged so hard that they accidentally put the bird in the laser cutter, right after the switch for the motor on the bird was pressed. When Jackery James remotely activated the laser cutter before he was in the building because he wanted to get more things cut, the laser cutter hit the single weak spot on the motor, causing a chain reaction. First, the motor burst into flames, burning up the bird, and eventually catching fire to a nearby battery-powered hot glue gun, causing it to explode. Some of the sparks from the first minor explosion managed to hit the wooden racks that held everyone’s current motorized projects, making the whole room explode in flames. “As soon as the fire alarm went off, I knew something was wrong,” says Sockony Yargforth, one of the few survivors of the incident and a helper with the Sussy Networks project.
If you are wondering how a classroom fire destroyed the whole world, keep reading. First, the racks caught fire to the carpet outside of the design tech classroom, and some fuel pipes that were under the carpet were lit on fire, exploding the school. When the school exploded, it caused Earth’s core to grow by about 20% in size at a rate of 50 miles per second, creating wildfires in places from deserts to tundras. When people heard of this, they evacuated to Nasa and Space X headquarters, hopeing to get a ride, but only about 100,000 people ended up being transported to Mars, with our limited supply of rockets. People are now wishing to return to Earth, even when its life-filled environment doesn’t exist anymore.
We hope humanity will survive and continue to live on Mars. Tobarney Oakley was one of the survivors, and he regrets this awful occurence.
